Review of the "Third Dyslexia Tutor Training Course"
Time:2015-05-25
Time always runs fast in full learning. The two days of the weekend passed quickly, and the second day of the training organized by the Shenzhen Weining Dyslexia Center [the third dyslexia tutor training class] has come to an end.
The morning of the second day of the mentor training course was titled "Classroom Design and Lesson Plan Writing, Commonly Used Teaching Games", which was delivered by Ms. Zhu Xiaomei from Shenzhen Weining. Ms. Zhu is the deputy director of the Dyslexia Center, an intermediate social worker, holding the Hong Kong Polytechnic University "Supporting Students with Special Educational Needs" series of training certificates, and has many years of experience in training and counseling services for children with dyslexia and their parents, and continues to carry out the work of the campus children's literacy training groups and parents of children with dyslexia.Mr. Zhu used an open-ended questioning approach to guide the participants through a series of questions about "the purpose of the course", "the role of teaching assistants in the classroom", "the differences and choices between group and individual training", and "the role of the teacher in the classroom". Mr. Zhu used open-ended questions to lead the participants to discuss about "the purpose of the course", "the role of teaching assistants in the classroom", "the difference between group training and individual training and their choices". The participants are all explorers and fighters in the education of children with dyslexia, and the results of each group discussion are very scientific and practical, which also triggered us to think about the training of children with special educational needs.
The afternoon session of the Tutor Training Course was entitled "Dyslexia Assessment", which was presented by Ms. Woo Yuen-han from Hong Kong. Ms. Woo is a Hong Kong Master of Social Work, a supervisor of social work in the Hong Kong Boys' Brigade, a holder of the Hong Kong Certificate in Special Education (specializing in dyslexia), and has been working with elementary school in Hong Kong to provide training and parental counseling for dyslexic school children.
In the classroom, Ms. Woo played the video "A World Without Walls (Series 4) 02 - It's Not Easy to Read and Write" to let us understand the work done by social workers in Hong Kong on dyslexia services and the improvement brought by their work to dyslexic children. Several of the trainees in this session are parents of school children, and their eyes reddened several times in the course of watching the video due to their empathy. At the same time, it also made us realize more deeply that with scientific and appropriate interventions, dyslexic children can also break through the wall and have a bright future.
Because of this, we hope that through the dyslexia tutor training, we can export more qualified dyslexia tutors to the country, benefit more dyslexic children and their families in China, improve the plight of more dyslexic children and their parents, and allow dyslexic children in mainland China to get the same appropriate services as those in developed countries and regions, Hong Kong and Taiwan, so that we can move forward towards real educational equity. The goal of the program is to improve the plight of dyslexic children and their parents, so that dyslexic children in mainland China can receive the same appropriate services as those in developed countries and regions, Hong Kong and Taiwan, and to move towards real educational equity.
