China Social Enterprise and Social Investment Forum seeks to build China's own highest profile social enterprise forum, promote cross-border exchanges and cooperation, promote the overall development of the industry, construct a favorable external environment, and become an association-like network of China's social enterprise and social investment industry, and an active builder of the industry's ecosystem.

Social Enterprise and Social Investment Network

The main theme of this forum is to attract resources to jointly promote the progress of the industry. Regarding the various opinions of the industry on the definition of "social enterprise", the members of the sponsoring organizations of the forum agreed that "to treat this definition with an open attitude" is more realistic at this stage, and not to get entangled in the definition. There is no need to get hung up on the definition. Social enterprise is a spectrum with different ends of the spectrum; the Forum needs to adopt an inclusive definition and scope to define social enterprise and social investment in order to bring more people and organizations onto the Forum platform.

In 2006, Prof. Yunus, Nobel Peace Prize winner and founder of Grameen Bank in Bangladesh, visited China for exchange. In the same year, "How to Change the World: Social Entrepreneurs and the Power of New Ideas" was published in China. Since then, the concepts of "social entrepreneurship" and "social enterprise" have come to the forefront of the Chinese public welfare community. The public welfare community and academics have been very enthusiastic about social enterprises. A number of social enterprises that have been in operation for many years, including the Canyou Group and the Fuping School, have been discovered, and many public welfare organizations have begun to actively explore the path of social enterprise transformation, while a number of new social enterprises have sprung up, covering a wide range of business areas, such as elderly care, disability, education, eco-agriculture, environmental protection, poverty alleviation, and health, among others. The China Social Enterprise and Impact Investing Development Report was also released at Boao Forum for Asia 2013. Starting from 2006, social enterprises and social investment in China have experienced changes from budding to rapid development, and have entered a period of market construction.

Initiated by Mr. Zheng Weining, the founder of Shenzhen Canyou Group, and supported by Mr. Xu Yongguang, the chairman of Nandu Public Welfare Foundation, sixteen institutions in China jointly launched the "China Social Enterprise and Social Investment Forum" after more than a year's gestation, communication and coordination. These 16 organizations include Hainan Chengmei Charity Foundation, Zhejiang Dunhe Charity Foundation, Enyi Social Impact Fund, China Institute of Public Welfare of Beijing Normal University, Beijing Guanghua Charity Foundation, Huamin Charity Foundation, Beijing Leping Public Welfare Foundation, Beijing Lianyi Charitable Foundation, Nandu Public Welfare Foundation, China Youth Entrepreneurship International Program (CYEI) YBC, Center for the Study of Social Enterprises (CSEI), Yukon Public Welfare Venture Capital (YWV), Beijing Yifang Public Welfare Foundation, Yuanen Space, Zengai Public Welfare Foundation, Zheng Weining Charity Foundation. Distinguished from other forums in the field of social enterprise and social investment, China Social Enterprise and Social Investment Forum is positioned as an association-like network and active builder of industry ecosystems in China's social enterprise and social investment industry, and will promote the construction of the entire market from five aspects: policy, talent, capital, supportive services, and social cognition.
