Shenzhen has love, we walk together--Shenzhen disability and health integration to welcome the London Olympics
Time:2012-02-13
On February 11, a relay run involving disabled and able-bodied people was held at Lianhuashan Park in Shenzhen.
The theme of this special relay running activity is "China's public welfare relay, help the London Olympics - Shenzhen has love, we go together", the activity by the British Embassy in China, The event was co-organized by the British Embassy in China, the Shenzhen Canyou Group, the Shenzhen Zheng Weining Charity Foundation and the Shenzhen Real Estate Information Network, with the aim of promoting the integration of the disabled and the able-bodied, advocating the concept of accessibility to information and travel, and at the same time publicizing and promoting the spirit of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The whole event included a relay run for the disabled and the able-bodied, a fun tug-of-war between the disabled and the able-bodied, a public service exhibition on information and travel accessibility, and a display of public service organizations.
In the relay run, each able-bodied person and a Canyou in a wheelchair formed a team, and the able-bodied person pushed the Canyou in a wheelchair to run forward, and embraced as a baton - the sweat of the able-bodied person, the shouts of the Canyou and the friendly embrace of the barrier-free, intertwined. The sweat of the able-bodied, the shouts of the disabled, and the unobstructed embrace together interweave a beautiful picture of the disabled and the able-bodied walking together. In the fun tug-of-war, both the disabled and the able-bodied sat on the ground and pulled the rope to their own side, but they couldn't use a lot of force sitting down, and the able-bodied who were not used to sitting down and exerting their strength all suffocated with their faces full of red - this let the able-bodied experience the daily life and physiological difficulties of the disabled, and also increased the number of Canyou. This has allowed the able-bodied to experience first-hand the daily life and physical difficulties of the disabled, and has also increased mutual understanding between the disabled and the able-bodied. In the public welfare exhibition, many public welfare organizations from all over the country, such as the Canyou Travel Barrier Free Service Center and the Weining Love Counter Service Center, brought their own public welfare projects to publicize and display, which not only include the barrier-free travel service car that allows people with disabilities to get on and off the bus in wheelchairs but also the Love Counter - a public service counter that spends all of its sales revenue on public welfare - to promote and display the public welfare projects. There are not only wheelchair-accessible vehicles, but also love counters that use all their sales revenue for public welfare - public welfare projects with great social benefits that inspire everyone present who cares about public welfare. Of course, the scene of the event is bound to be filled with volunteers, Shenzhen Red Vests SDU, Shenzhen Public Security Bureau SWAT detachment volunteers and other volunteer teams for the smooth implementation of the activities contributed to the strength of the promotion of the integration of Canyou and the public welfare activities added a brilliant ink. Huang Jingbo, Director of Shenzhen Luohu District Canyous' Federation, Julie Zhu, Political and Economic Consul of the British Consulate General in Guangzhou and other guests attended the event.February 11th marks the 200-day countdown to the London 2012 Paralympic Games. The Paralympic Games were born in Britain in 1948: Dr. Ludwig Gettleman hosted an archery tournament for disabled World War II veterans at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, which became the first Paralympic Games. This year, the Paralympics are back in its home country. Britain hopes to use the Paralympics as an opportunity to encourage more grassroots efforts to not only help find the next generation of Paralympians, but also to prove that sport can enrich the lives of Canyou in the wider world. One of the aims of the London Olympics is to deliver a sporting event that maximizes accessibility for people with disabilities.
